Cecil Ray Bishop was born on April 6, 1920, in Wichita Falls. He lived in Menard and worked with his family in his father's trade of moving houses. He drove a cattle truck for Bill Taylor in San Angelo after marrying and ended his work career as an auto mechanic for Goodyear Tire Testing. He retired from this profession and had lived in San Angelo until his death June 7, 1997.

Ray had many loved ones that preceded him. They are his parents, Earnest and Lorena Bishop of Ozona; his brothers, Zane Grey Bishop of Fort Worth and Lloyd Bishop of Kerrville; his sisters, Allie McDonald and Geneva Castleman, both of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Robert Jenkins of Odessa and Robert Allen Ullrich of Wall; and one great-grandchild, Joshua Garcia of Monahans.

His family who remains and will miss him are his wife of 43 years, Dorthy Bishop of San Angelo; his children, Barbarba Henderson of Andrews, Don Bishop and wife, Pat, of Anaheim, Calif., Richard Bishop and wife, Alice, of Pelham, Ala.,Nancy Schraer and husband, Dennis, of San Angelo and Patsy Madewell of San Angelo; his grandchildren; his brothers, James Bishop of San Angelo, Charles Bishop of Junction and Tite Bishop of Ozona.
