Victoria "Guera" De La Garza, 74, of Ozona, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Easter morning, Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was born on May 20, 1937, in Ozona, to the late Leandro Sr. and Josefa Flores. She was the eldest daughter in the family of 15 siblings.
"Guera", as everyone knew her, was raised and educated in Ozona. She met and later married Hector "Guero" De La Garza in March of 1958 and through their union of marriage they had five sons, Victor, Hector Jr., Jesse, Adam and Luis. She was a homemaker most of her life and was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Cursilista and the Guadalupanas. Guera was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, camping, cooking for everyone and spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by all her family and friends. Guera was preceded in death by her parents; sister Hilda Flores Porras; and brother Daniel Flores.
She is survived by her loving husband, Hector De La Garza Sr.; sons Victor De La Garza, Hector De La Garza Jr., Adam De La Garza and wife Marta, Jesse De La Garza and wife Vicki and Luis De La Garza and wife Annette, all of Ozona; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Virginia Flores Gonzales of Midland and Elisa De Hoyos of San Angelo; brothers Leandro Flores Jr. and wife Anna of Grape Creek, Ismael Flores and wife Mary of Corpus Christi, Eldimiro Flores and wife Eduwina of Fort Worth, Matias Flores and wife, Argentina of Del Rio, Jesse Flores and wife Mary of Ozona, Jaime Flores and wife Martha of Eldorado, Baldemar Flores and wife Irma of Ozona and Omero Flores, also of Ozona; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ozona. Interment will follow in Lima Cemetery in Ozona.
