Darlyne Alford Neubauer

Darlyne Alford Neubauer, 77, of Dallas, TX went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Darlyne was born into a close-knit family to parents, Dovie Labracea Lee and Ottie Quebe Alford on December 3, 1938 at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, TX and to an extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles who remained close family until death began to separate them. Darlyne grew up as an oilfield girl, living in Continental Oil Camps outside Iran, Rankin, McCamey, Big Lake, and Ozona in Western Texas. She graduated from Ozona High School in 1956 and enrolled at North Texas State University in Denton, TX, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Certification in three years. She married Bob Neubauer on December 27, 1959, immediately after graduating. They taught school in Miami, Florida before moving back to Dallas in 1963, where she opened and managed her nursery and pre-school. Bob and Darlyne divorced in 1971. She continued to teach in Sunnyvale and Mesquite for many years. When Darlyne was given the opportunity to work for Hadley McHugh in the apartment management business, she began as an assistant leasing agent and concluded that occupation as the head of their property management division. Darlyne completed her working career with the Texas Attorney General’s Office and retired in 2003. She distinguished herself in each of these careers. Darlyne was known and recognized for being hard-working, responsible, diligent, and fun. Over the years, Darlyne was a member of many organizations, but most recently was a member of Sunnyvale Baptist Church, the Red Hats and the Elks Lodge. She was a life-time member of the PTA. Darlyne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dovie and Quebe Alford, all of her aunts, uncles, and many of her precious cousins. She is survived by her sisters, Beverly Grace Alford of Lubbock, TX, and Lana Kay Manning of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; niece, Heather Manning Garner and husband Dave; great nephew, Jack Manning Rowan; great niece, Landry Labracea Rowan of Jacksonville, FL; and by her well-loved extended family and many wonderful friends. A memorial service for Darlyne will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, Dallas, TX on Thursday, November 17 at 1:00 pm. She will be buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona, TX. Donations in Darlyne’s honor may be made to Ronald McDonald House.
