Ofelia Llanas

Long time Ozona resident Jose Felix Llanas and Ofelia Llanas passed away this month after a hard-fought battle with Covid at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo. Ofelia passed on her birthday January 12, 2021. She was 73. Jose soon followed her on January 23, 2021. He was 75.

Jose and Ofelia had been married for 52 years and were inseparable and are finally joined together in eternal life.

Ofelia was born in San Jose De Aura Mexico on January 12, 1948, daughter of Macario and Consuelo Falcon.

Jose was born in San Jose De Aura on October 17, 1945, son of Jose and Ines Llanas.

They were married on October 15, 1968 and soon they resided in Ozona where Jose worked as a ranch hand and then transitioned over to the oilfield for 35 years.

Ofelia and Felix were avid members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Ofelia had a contagious smile and had great empathy. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, cooking, sewing and reading the Bible.

Jose was always tinkering with something around the house and enjoyed watching baseball and boxing.

They both enjoyed their lives by taking trips together, spending time with their sons and daughters and grandchildren.

Ofelia is survived by her two sisters, Emilia Cruz, of Grand Prairie, Texas and Luz Elena Moreno, of San Jose De Aura.

Jose is survived by his brothers and sisters, Joe Llanas, of Odessa, Texas, Norma Zitterkoft, of Argyle, Texas, Javier Llanas, of Jarrell, Texas, Ramiro Llanas, of San Angelo, Texas, Josefina Montemayor, of San Angelo, Texas, Rosa Vasquez, of Dublin, Texas, Juany Moreno, of Dallas, Texas, and Paula Robles, of Dallas, Texas.

Ofelia and Jose Felix were loving parents of Ofelia Moreno, of Dublin, Texas, Martin Llanas, of Cibolo, Texas, Lupe Llanas, of Waco, Texas, and Jackie Llanas, of San Angelo, Texas. They leave behind seven wonderful grandchildren that they were found of: Jose Aguirre, Kaylah Aguirre, Gabby Llanas, Thalia Llanas, Paziana Ochoa-Llanas, Emjay Llanas, and Noah Llanas and three great-grandchildren, Aubree Polanco, Natalia Valentine and Gabriel De Soto.

“O God, who commanded us to honor our father and our mother, in Your mercy have pity on the souls of my parents and forgive them their sins. May I see them again in the joy of everlasting brightness Through Christ our Lord.”

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home.
