Charles A. “Buddy” Farris, Jr., 78, of Ozona, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Born to Charles A. Farris, Sr. and Elvira (Kruckemeyer) Caldwell, Buddy spent his life in Ozona, a place he loved deeply. A graduate of Ozona High School and Sul Ross State University, he earned a degree in Animal and Range Science and dedicated his career to the oil and gas industry, working hard to provide for his family.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Judy Huckabee Farris; his daughter, Ashley La Rae Farris; and his son, Charles A. “Tripp” Farris III. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Loren Talamantez, Kenzee Talamantez, and Grey Pierce; and his great-grandson, Masonn Talamantez. Additional survivors include his brother, Marlin Farris, and sister, Lenora “Sissy” Watts; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those who knew Buddy will remember his warm smile, gentle humor, and genuine kindness. He found joy in life’s simple moments—drinking coffee on the porch with his loyal granddog Finn, watching football, and visiting with family and friends. A lifelong member of the Ozona Church of Christ, he lived his life guided by faith, humility, and love.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Ozona Church of Christ, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends followed at Granny Miller Hall. Visitation was held at Preddy Funeral Home on Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5.
Buddy touched the lives of so many, and his family is deeply grateful to all who shared memories and stories in celebration of a life well lived.
