Rama Maxine Brown, 80, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004.
She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Novice, Texas, to Luther and Iva B. O'Neal. Sweetwater, Texas, became the family home, where she met R.L., her husband of 60 years.
Maxine was a homemaker, moving many times with her husband who was in the Air Force. She loved being with people and made lifelong friends everywhere she lived. After settling in Ozona, she served her community working in the school cafeteria, as Chamber of Commerce manager, and clerk in the Crockett County Justice of the Peace office for nine years.
She was a member of Eastern Star, past Worthy Matron, and active in the Stations for many years. Maxine played the piano every Tuesday for the Ozona Care Center, still finding time to meet her friends each morning for coffee, playing ponytail canasta and couples 42-club.
Maxine and R.L. moved to Burnet in 1999, finding a wonderful retirement community in an area with beautiful bluebonnets abound each spring. She loved taking rides around the countryside.
Rama Maxine is survived by her husband, R. Lynn Brown of Burnet; daughter, Joyce Hambleton of Burnet; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ken Krisa of Midland; eight grandchildren, Merle, Regina, Timothy, Larry, Freddy, Lauren, David and Sarah; and six great-grandchildren, Breanne, Balicia, Ashley, James, Billy and George. Maxine has one brother, Kenneth O'Neal and his wife, Mary, of Arlington.
Maxine was preceded in death by son Larry Glenn Brown.
Service was held Monday, Nov. 22, at the First Baptist Church in Ozona. Arrangements were by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
